Obama acknowledged that other nations have done this already. He did not mention countries, but China, Japan and India have already held such summits. He did not apologize for not being the first. He simply said it was now time for the United States to do this as well, to acknowledge the importance of working together, and the importance of developing a common future in face of global threats, human and natural. He is right. It is time, and it is never too late to do the right thing.
