It’s Dan Straily starting for the A’s today, and he’s shown a knack for saving his best starts for the biggest games. He had one brilliant start against Texas in May, allowing two hits in seven scoreless innings in Oakland’s 1-0 win over Yu Darivish, and he had a teal stinker against the Rangers in June, allowing eight hits and six runs on June 17. Twice this year he hasn’t made it out of the fifth inning against Texas.
